Four Indy City County Council Members take donations from Mr. Cook

Recent developments in Indianapolis politics reveal potential conflicts of interest within the committee investigating Mayor Joe Hogsett. According to verified information, four of the five Democratic City-County Council members on the investigation committee—Crista Carlino, Jessica McCormick, Andy Nielsen, and Kristen Jones—have received campaign donations from Thomas Cook and/or Matt Pleasant, raising concerns about the impartiality of the investigation.

This revelation follows the Indianapolis City-County Council's decision to form an investigative committee to determine whether Mayor Hogsett had any knowledge of or involvement in the sexual harassment allegations surrounding his office. The allegations center around misconduct by former campaign staffer and Deputy Mayor Thomas Cook, who was ultimately fired for using his position to prey on women within the administration.

Indianapolis political commentator Stephen Whitmer, known on X (formerly Twitter) as "Whitty Reviews," exposed the financial connections between Cook, Pleasant, and the four council members in a post that has since gained traction. After speaking with Whitmer directly and verifying his claims, it is confirmed that these donations are accurate and raise questions about the integrity of the investigation.

Whitmer attempted to share this information with multiple news outlets, including Indiana Capital Chronicle, but according to him, reporter Niki Kelly declined to cover the story. This reflects a broader trend among Indianapolis media. Outlets such as the IndyStar, Indiana Capital Chronicle, Indy Politics, and WIBC have long been accused of suppressing stories that could damage their access to local politicians. Their reluctance to report on the Cook campaign donations is seen as another example of this pattern.

Despite this silence from mainstream media, the issue has not gone unnoticed by Hoosiers. The ties between Cook and the Democratic council members cast doubt on the fairness of an investigation that could implicate Mayor Hogsett in one of the most significant scandals of his career.

As this story unfolds, the residents of Indianapolis will be closely watching how the City-County Council handles the investigation and whether the local media continues to ignore this potential conflict of interest. For now, thanks to voices like Stephen Whitmer and independent outlets, the truth has found a way to surface.
