Former Congressional Republican Candidate and Hoosier Enquirer Editor-In-Chief Issues Scathing Statement Against Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears

Indianapolis, IN—In a fiery statement, former Congressional candidate and current Editor-In-Chief of Hoosier Enquirer, Gabriel “Intimidator” Whitley, responded to his arrest last month with a stern warning for Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears. The arrest stems from a tweet made by Whitley, while his accuser, Abdul Hakim Shabazz, who allegedly threatened Whitley’s life, has faced no legal repercussions. Whitley claims this situation highlights a deep corruption within the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office under Mears.

In his official statement, Whitley expressed his outrage, stating, “Last month, I was wrongfully arrested over a tweet, while the crooked Marion County Prosecutor, Ryan Mears, continues to protect his alleged rapist friend. Months ago, this same man threatened my life, and Mears did nothing. Now, instead of pursuing justice, they target me. Ryan Mears better convict me because if he doesn’t, I will sue him for official misconduct and take everything he owns—right down to his shoes. The people of Marion County deserve better than a prosecutor who shields criminals while persecuting the innocent.”

Whitley’s arrest has stirred tensions in the community, with many supporters calling it a politically motivated attack by Mears, who has faced accusations of bias and failure to hold those connected to his office accountable. According to Whitley, Capitol Police and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were involved after Shabazz allegedly threatened to kill him, yet Mears took no action against the individual.

Whitley, who has long been an outspoken critic of Marion County’s judicial leadership, has made it clear that he intends to pursue legal action if the charges against him do not stick. His threat to sue Mears for official misconduct, should he be acquitted, adds a new level of tension in an already heated public battle.

As Hoosier Enquirer continues to grow as one of Indiana’s most vocal independent news outlets, Whitley’s current legal battle further solidifies his position as a firebrand in the state's political scene. Whether this conflict with Mears will continue to escalate remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Whitley is not backing down from his fight.

For many residents of Marion County, this ordeal raises larger questions about transparency, justice, and the integrity of the legal system. With Whitley’s reputation and career on the line, the coming months could prove pivotal in shaping the future of Marion County’s political landscape.
