Fact-Checking Indiana Chronicles and Indy Star: The Truth About Bobby Kern and Terry Goodin

Recent reports from the Indiana Chronicles and the Indy Star have stirred controversy by claiming Terry Goodin was the first to file for the lieutenant governor position at the Indiana Democratic convention. However, documentation reveals Bobby Kern was the actual first filer. This discrepancy raises questions about the accuracy of these reports and the underlying dynamics within the Indiana Democratic Party.

Discrepancies in Reporting

Both Indiana Chronicles and the Indy Star reported Terry Goodin as the initial filer, contradicting official filing documents confirming Bobby Kern’s precedence. This misreporting has led to significant confusion and speculation about potential biases in media coverage. Fact-checking is crucial in this context to ensure the public receives accurate information about political processes and candidates. Indiana Chronicles and the Indy Star has a history of lying to the public. We reached out to both of the media outlets of why they lied and misled the public but no response yet.

Accusations of Rigging the Convention

An email from the Indiana Democratic Party of manipulating convention rules to favor Terry Goodin, whom was labeled as a MAGA extremist masquerading as a Democrat. According to the email, last-minute rule changes include:

- Banning signs

- Prohibiting candidates from speaking without nomination by an elected State Delegate

- Withholding the State Delegate list from candidates, hindering their ability to campaign effectively

Such allegations, if true, suggest a deliberate effort to influence the convention's outcome, undermining the democratic process.

Candidates in the Race

The lieutenant governor race features four candidates:

- Bobby Kern, former paralegal

- Terry Goodin, supported by gubernatorial candidate Jennifer McCormick

- Dixion Tatum

- Clif Marsiglio, former mayoral candidate of Indianapolis

Reports indicate that the McCormick campaign has been urging other candidates to withdraw in favor of Goodin. Despite these efforts, all candidates remain in the race, emphasizing their commitment to a fair competition.

The accusations of rule manipulation and candidate favoritism suggest an alarming shift toward undemocratic practices within the Indiana Democratic Party. The email's claim of "full throttle fascism" by party leaders underscores the gravity of these concerns. Such tactics not only damage the party’s integrity but also erode public trust in the political process.

Jennifer McCormick, supporting Terry Goodin, is notable for her previous tenure as a Republican elected official. This background further complicates the dynamics within the Democratic Party, raising questions about ideological consistency and party loyalty.

With the convention approaching, transparency and fairness are paramount. All stakeholders must ensure the process remains democratic and representative of the delegates' and constituents' will. Voters and party members alike must scrutinize the proceedings to safeguard against any form of election rigging or undue influence.

As the Indiana Democratic convention nears, the integrity of the nomination process for lieutenant governor is under intense scrutiny. Fact-checking and vigilance are essential to uphold democratic values and ensure a fair and transparent election.
