Clif Marsiglio Announces Candidacy for Indiana Lieutenant Governor

*Indianapolis, IN – June 18, 2024* — Clif Marsiglio, a community leader and educator, has officially announced his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Indiana at the upcoming Indiana Democratic State Convention. This announcement sets the stage for a rematch with Bob Kern, who also filed his paperwork and was the first to declare his run for the position. Both Marsiglio and Kern previously contested the Democratic primary for Mayor of Indianapolis, a race in which incumbent Mayor Joe Hogsett ultimately prevailed. Notably, Marsiglio withdrew from the mayoral primary and endorsed fellow candidate Robin Shackleford.

Marsiglio expressed his motivations and vision in a press release:

*"Indianapolis, IN - June 17, 2024 - Clif Marsiglio, Community Leader and educator, proudly announces his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor of Indiana. Marsiglio aims to bring back Hoosier Hospitality to the Great State of Indiana."*

*"I had hoped to sit this one out, but Indiana stands at a crossroads," said Marsiglio. "We can travel down the authoritarian vision of a convicted criminal and those who worship him, or we can build a state where every community thrives, every person is valued, and education is governed rationally. Indiana has always loved those who fight, and until the Democratic Party fights as hard as those on the other side, we will lose. I WILL FIGHT LIKE HELL TO SERVE YOU."*

Marsiglio's platform focuses on three key areas:

1. **Empowering People to Make Personal Decisions**

Marsiglio advocates for the fundamental right of individuals to make decisions about their bodies, beliefs, and families. *"Empowerment means trusting people to know what's best for themselves and their loved ones,"* he emphasized.

2. **Repairing Education in Indiana**

Criticizing the 20-year Republican supermajority for harming the state's education system, Marsiglio highlighted his commitment to retaining college graduates and improving educational governance. *"The 20-year Republican supermajority has devastated our education system. Working in higher education, I see political appointees who race to virtue signal for the worst of the worst, destroying everything they touch,"* he stated.

3. **Rebuilding the Economy Throughout the State**

Marsiglio emphasized the need to rebuild factories, support rural regions, and protect local land ownership. *"We will rebuild factories, build up our rural regions, and stop selling our land to foreigners. We need a strong middle class with unions leading the charge to prosperity in homes throughout the state,"* he declared.

Marsiglio's campaign is built on inclusivity and invites individuals from diverse perspectives to join the conversation. *"Our state is strongest when we work together, listen to each other, and find solutions that uplift everyone. I'm excited to embark on this journey with my fellow Hoosiers and make Indiana a beacon of progress and unity."*

Marsiglio resides in Indianapolis with his partner, Amy, their two preteen children, and their dog, Indigo. His extensive background in community organization, education, and public safety, combined with his progressive vision, positions him as a compelling candidate for Lieutenant Governor.
